Caulfield Leader Article - Pursuit with YOW factor in Bentleigh

Quote from Article:

JEWISH biker girls are having fun on the open road, and urging female followers to get on two wheels.

Lauren Secular and Batya Simon are international motorcycling mates who celebrate their Judaism and their love of riding in special clubs.

Ms Secular is a member of the Chai Riders Motorcycle Club in New York and is visiting Ms Simon's club YOW, Australia's first Jewish motorcycle touring club, based in Bentleigh.

"I love coming to Melbourne; YOW is a great club," Ms Secular said.

"Our clubs are like people doing like things. But as well as enjoying the open road, we also help out where we can.

"We do things like provide rides at children's camps."

Ms Secular would love to see more women join clubs. "I'm sure there are a lot of Jewish women out there who love to ride a motorbike," she said. "Come and join YOW and ride in a group. It's safe and great fun."

Club spokesman Geoff Travers said non-Jewish people were welcome.

"We have an official organised ride every third Sunday of the month but there are also ad hoc rides every week," Mr Travers said.

"Just turn up at Cafe J'adore, 504 Centre Rd, Bentleigh, before 9am and we will welcome you," Mr Travers said.
