3-Day

At the AGM Graham Solomon and I made some quick plans to do a 3 day ride on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday next week in eastern Victoria.

The route is roughly as follows:

Day1: Melbourne to Falls Creek via Omeo ~472km

Day2: Falls Creek to Bombala via Thredbo ~446km

Day3: Bombala to Melbourne via Delegate ~512km

This is an "interesting route" from a riders point of view. It takes in some great countryside and apart from the freeway to Bairnsdale and from Orbost back to Melbourne is mostly on good backroads away from traffic and police.

There are a few gravel sections for those who are game for it. For others, there are alternatives sections that are strictly sealed roads.

If you would like to ride part of the way with us, or stay the first night and then return, you have that option. Richard will be doing just that.

We will be leaving at about 8 am on Sunday 2 November and returing on Tuesday late afternoon.

We will be staying over at:

• Viking Alpine Lodge, Falls Creek and
• Maneroo Motel, Bombala.

If you would like to come along, book your accomodation (pretty reasonable) and let me know youre coming.

i'm looking for people to join me for a shorter 2 day ride over the Cup Weekend.  WE'll start out accompaying evan and graham but split off and return on the 2nd day. 

Good news that the Omeo highway is now freshly sealed from Omeo to the Murray.  Construction completed in March this year and it is by all accounts an excellent ride of non stop sweepers following the river all the way through the centre of victoria from bottom to top, finally accessible to Gravel-o-phobes!   This section of road is a focus of the trip as well as riding the bogong high plains

Evan posted a 3-day ride with an excellent route that I would recommend, but unfortunately I can only be away Sunday & Monday this weekend, so I’m proposing to join Evan and Graham on the first day, and part of the 2nd, then split nr Tallangatta and loop back through beechworth to return by Monday  late arvo.

The cup weekend ride has always been a highlight of the YOW calendar.  So hopefully if anyone else is similarly time poor and would like to join me please get in contact ASAP.

i'll post day-2 route map shortly,  day-1 is 470k as per Evan's post, day-2 over 500k but the last part could be via Hume if we wanted to cut time.
