Ride to: Arthurs Seat

Start Finish:

Thursday, 25 December, 2014 - 09:00 to 13:30

Distance:

155km

Stops:

Cafe D'Lish 269 Bambra Road Caulfield South, Mornington, Red Hill

Captain:

Sam Blumenstein

Plan:

Get up before the morons hit the roads. Meet at Cafe D'Lish on Bambra Rd. Ride to Nepean Highway for a cruise right to Frankston and then Mornington for a little toilet/food/drink break.

Down to Dromana along the ocean road and up to Arthurs Seat. Home via Red Hill and the freeway just in time to get off the roads before the Christmas lunch crowds hit the streets.

Always a very popular ride on a day when the roads have very light traffic.

Report:

Wonderful day, great weather, light traffic and a large CHAI sized group turned up for our annual Christmas Day Ride. CHAI size because we had 18 bikes and riders. Thankyou all for turning up and participating. Everything went to plan despite the large group. We stopped in Mornington for a drink/munch stop where we divided the riders into two groups.

The rev heads went on first to enjoy the twisty climb up to Arthurs Seat while the slower more sensible group just kicked back and relaxingly climbed to the top. I led the slow groupd and frankly I quite enjoyed climbing the mountain at a slow pace for once.

We had several riders leave us from the top of Arthurs Seat while the rest of us cruised home via Red Hill and Moorooduc highway (not the M11) with virtually no traffic to speak of till we reached Springvale Road. It was a seemless ride along the Moorooduc and then Frankston Freeway.

Todays riders (in no particular order) were...Mark, Reuven, Glenn, Volvi, Sol, Aaron, Andrew, Oleg, Arthur, Mike, Yossi, Michael, Sam, Issy, Graham, Richard, Rod and Max.

Thanks to Glenn for keeping an eye on the trailing group on the way out of Melbourne and to Sol for tail end Charlie duties.

See you all next time.
